About KKCC

Records show that Knockin & Kinnerley Cricket Club has been in existence since 1862 and played their first games of cricket during that summer. Early fixtures were played against local sides Whittington, Oswestry School, Great Ness, Llanymynech and Tedsmore. A game played on 11th June 1862 reveals that in a two innings match against Whittington, Knockin scored 24 and 28 while their opponents scored 22 and 35.

Our home in the early days of the cricket club was at the White House, Kinnerley, but others included Castle Meadow (1891-1920) The Quabs (1894-1920) The Barnyard (1920-1954) and the current Nursery Ground, which was opened officially on 5th June 1954 by the President of the club, the Rev A.C. Roberts.

The club was well known in cricketing circles far and wide for its railway coach changing accommodation, purchased in 1894. This was put into honourable retirement in 1962 with the erection of a new pavilion which coincided with the Centenary year celebrations.

In present times the club has built a new pavilion, in 2010, but officially opened in 2012 to coincide with our 150 year celebrations.
